DEFINITIONS

FLOODPLAIN – means the area of land adjoining a lake or watercourse which will be inundated by a flood.  

FLOODWAY – means the channel of a riverine watercourse and those portions of the floodplain which are reasonably required to carry and discharge the base flood.   

BASE FLOOD ELEVATION (BFE)
– is the elevation to which water would be expected to rise during the base flood (100-year).  How to determine BFE?  Click Here
